sisters

As I was taking pictures of these girls this morning … my heart was warm and fuzzy. It started the night before when I was putting them to bed. Piper’s been having bad dreams and was terrified to go to sleep. I don’t normally lay with them or stay with them til they fall asleep, but that night I did.

It was absolutely precious … beautiful. The two of them, Piper and Wynter. Next to each other, so close. Both holding on to me, but holding on to each other. They are one in the same … Piper and Wynter … Wynter and Piper. Otherwise known as ‘sisters’ {I’ll get to that in a minute …}.

So this morning, I’m watching them from behind my lens in awe of the bond between them. I see it often enough, but sometimes it strikes me more than others. And you bet they can fight like the best of ’em … but most of the time … they have nothing but love for each other. I don’t know what they’d do without the other.

They were completely engrossed in their exploring this morning. Hunting for hermit crabs.

When I was taking the photos … I was thinking about a blog post, of course! Knowing these two are never far from each others side, I figured I would capture a few other photos of them throughout the day to post.

They didn’t disappoint. Here they are hunting for more creatures … not sure which kind this time.

As we went through our day today and as I was looking through my pictures tonight … I realized, it’s not just Piper and Wynter … really it’s sisters. Four of them. And yeah, I’m starting to tear up as I’m writing this … but forgive me, I’m pretty emotional right now {more on that in a different post}.

There’s nothing particularly special in this picture … in fact, it’s not even too good. But there’s a story to it that I want to remember foreber {Hunter-ese for ‘forever’}. The girls were all sitting up on their chairs, backs to me, looking out at the water as we made our way to the snorkeling island. Hunter, for some reason, turned around, sat on her bottom and gripped the sides of her chair. She said to me, “you want me to sit on my bottom?” I shook my head yes. She said, “okay, thank you mommy.” Note: this is a kid that thanks me for everything … from wiping her bottom to giving her a kiss … sigh.

Then she says, “my sisters too?” I shake my head yes. So she says to them, “sisters … mommy wants you to sit on your bottoms.” The story here is that she calls them ‘sisters’ … all the time. I guess unless she’s yelling at Wynter for something, which can be pretty frequent. She and Wynt like to get into it pretty often!

Anyway.

It’s precious to me when she calls them ‘sisters,’ like it’s their name. One in the same … Piper and Wynter … Wynter and Piper … sisters.

Taylor took this photo … amazing isn’t it? I found it and thought it perfect for this post. I’m not completely sure who’s hands they even are … but I do know they’re sisters.

So, as I’m going through my photos to put in this post … I come across these of Taylor with her sisters. Poor Tay seems to be left out often. She’s older. Doesn’t play little kids games. She is a teenager after all. But the cool thing is, I’ve caught her playing with them over the last couple of days and it warms my heart. When she wants to … she’s a pretty cool big sis!

I love these sisters with all my heart. Thank you Lord for blessing me with four awesome daughters.

They are all so adorable. I can say, sisters are definately the best! (except when they’re not!) That is too funny that Hunter says thank you for everything, because Zach does too! Jon and I are always wondering where he got that from?! Maybe it’s in their 3 year old blood! Whatever it is, I hope it lasts forever! Looks like you are having a great trip!
