faith, trust, and pixie dust!

So … I recently returned from a week long vacation aboard the Disney Magic cruise line.  A totally blessed trip and I hope to share more about it next month.

You might be asking, “alright, but what’s that got to do with faith?”

Well … grab a cup o’ coffee and let me tell you!

Given my {pretty close to} every thought has been consumed with faith, and my senses seem to be uber-aware of anything pertaining to faith … I’ve been noticing faith infused into so many everyday situations, circumstances and stories.

Hence today’s post title!

The ship had a full production theater show every night … and on one night the evening show was titled “Disney Dreams.”

It was a story of a little girl who had every Disney toy and propaganda imaginable {for us, that might translate to Bibles, devotions, self-help books}, but she didn’t believe her dreams could actually come true.  It was all fine and good when they were somebody else’s fairytale, but she didn’t believe she could have the fairytale.

Peter Pan showed up to walk her through believing in her own fairytale.  Don’t you wish we could have the apostle Paul, or John … ooo! ooo! or how ‘bout doubting Thomas himself show up and walk us through our faith journey!?

Back on topic … a few things struck me throughout the show that I wanted to share with you:

Peter’s constant encouragement “all you need is faith, trust and a sprinkle of pixie dust.”

Or this comment when the little girl desperately wanted to be able to fly, “You can’t believe with your eyes, you need to believe with your heart.”

And the final thing that struck me was after an hour long show of recounting how everyone else’s dreams came true when they believed {Cinderella, Belle, Simba, Aladdin}, as the little girl stood on top of a building ready, waiting and wanting to fly … to take that leap of faith and jump, she said this, “Wait!  Wait.  I need to think this through.”

I wonder how many times those very words have caused you to stand in the way of your own faith, of your own dreams. Beth Moore says this, “Help me not to miss future blessings because I refuse to go to a place with You that I’ve never been before.”

How powerful is that?

Are you like the little girl standing on the ledge, wanting to fly?  But you’re letting yourself get in the way of your future blessings?

Jesus had this to say to {doubting} Thomas …

Jesus said, “So, you believe because you’ve seen with
your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for
those who believe without seeing.”
John 20:29 {The Message}

Let’s look at it this way … we all have blessings in store … but even better blessings are in store if we can believe without seeing!  Don’t you love that promise?!
