personalized handmade birthday gift

I’m frequently inspired by Sally at Shim & Sons and I think you’ll have no doubt why when you see what I created via her inspiration!

Piper had a birthday party to attend last weekend and I really wanted to do something creative for a gift.  I’d bookmarked Sally’s gift idea months ago and was pretty excited to come across it again!

The gift was all handmade {except the crayon packaging} and included a personalized crayon pack, 2 sketchbooks, a “write your own story” book, bookplates and a drawstring bag to carry everything.

I designed it all in Illustrator, printed on cardstock, used Japanese tape for the book binding, stored in glassine bags and used some leftover fabric for the drawstring bag.

Can I just say that even at 41 years old … I would be in heaven to receive this gift!!

I saw this awhile ago on Sally’s blog too and bookmarked it once birthday season begins. I can’t wait! Yours looks great! Did you use a large glassine bag to house all of contents and then put that into the drawstring bag?

i used smaller glassine bags for each thing. i didn’t have any large at home and not enough time to shop for them, so used what i had. in the end, the things weren’t as big as i originally wanted … but i think i’d do it this same way again. i used a 5.75×8 bag for the sketchbooks & illustration book {sketchbooks together in one bag and the illustration book in it’s own bag}. and a 3.75×5 bag for the bookplates. and then put it all in the drawstring bag.
