the switch {tuesdays unwrapped}

Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and
knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.

Hebrews 11:1 NCV

Believing.  Beth Moore asks the question in her book Believing God, “Do you simply believe in God?  Or do you believe God?”

That’s a thought-provoking question my friend!  Where do you stand?

I’ve found there’s a switch that happens in a believers life … when you go from merely believing in God … to believing God.  For me, it’s been a process.  A process as I grew {and continue to grow} in my relationship with the Lord.

But I did have a bit of a light bulb moment last Thursday, as I was laying on a surgical table, nervous and hurting, I was talking to the Lord and repeating “I know you are with me, I know you are with me.”  I realized in that moment that I normally would be praying, “Please be with me, please be with me.”

I am so thankful that my God is near.  But I’m even more thankful that I believe He is near.

The Lord says, “You are my witnesses and the servant I chose.
I chose you so you would know and believe me … “

Isaiah 43:10 NCV

    You are so right. Easy to believe in God. That only takes a childlike faith. But to believe God takes the relationship. Thanks.

    so true, so true. it is much more convenient to believe “in God” than to actually hold to it with all that we have and all that we are. that usually takes a lot more trust and sacrifice. praying for you, sweet bloggy friend, as you go through this season of life. i did that bible study a couple years ago, and it absolutely challenged me to the core. made me stop and answer that question, “Do I really BELIEVE HIM?” glad to know we’re in it together.

    I often wonder if I’ve moved towards this and I suppose it depends on the day. Thank you for giving me something to ponder today.

    I am still growing and learning that He really is right there all the time. Praying that you are healing and the pain is going away.

    Yes! So glad I believe God. That He will provide as we sell our business. That he knows what’s coming. That He will be faithful because He is faithful. And He cannot be something He’s not. Everywhere I read today, He reminds me of this. Thank you for being one of His vessels to speak assurance to my heart.

    Both bible quotes are so POWERFUL! I wonder how folks make it through times like you have without faith? I can’t imagine!

    It’s a cool moment when we realize that we really do believe what we say we believe. It is also cool when we realize that God really is who He says He is.

    Great moment to unwrap.
