and now it’s pink!

When Hunter originally went in to have her cast put on … they decided to just cast around what was done in the ER, or it would’ve been too painful for her.  So we had to go in yesterday to put the permanent cast on.

Since I was in NYC with Taylor this past weekend, CJ took the other girls up to the lake.  I was on the phone with Hunter over the weekend and she started asking to have her cast off.  I told her we’d be going to the doc this week to “get a new color” and she was beyond excited!  She put the phone down and started yelling, “daddy!! I get a new color!”

Whew.  Bullet dodged.

She decided on pink.

It was a rough appointment.  She watched in awe as they sawed her cast off.  Cut all the gauze and bandaging that was keeping her snug and itchy in there.

But as soon as it was all off … she started freaking out!

I looked at the nurses and they assured me it was normal.  All of her support was gone and it’s a weird sensation, but completely normal.

Her little arm felt about an inch in diameter.

We had to walk down to get x-rays … all the while, she cradled her little arm tenderly {she carries it with her other hand}.

She cried during x-rays and it was pretty painful for her.  :(

But! sure enough, when we got back to the doctor’s office and it was time to put a new one on … she was super excited to get pink!  Like not happy, “oh boy I-can’t-wait-to-have-that-thing-put-back-on happy” … but she was able to stop crying and get through the pain, because of the looming excitement of “having a new color.”  ;)

Anyway.  I had planned to bring her back to school after her appointment, but she was in pain and tired, and it was around lunch and naptime {way wishful thinking!} … so what did I do?  Brought her home with me.

Big mistake.

Well, when you have a boatload of work and are not feeling good, that is!

A huge burst of energy this child had … which, in turn, allowed me to get this … enjoy!
