maternity & family session

I couldn’t be more excited to debut my new blog with this photo session of my bestie, Heather and her {three} adorable children!  Heather and I were pregnant at the same time while we worked together.  Me with Wynter, she with Jack.  And then she was kind enough to bless me with baby EJ!!  EJ is my goddaughter and I love her to pieces … I think you’ll see why as you look at these adorable photos of her … I could eat ‘er up!  She’s the black-haired baby I never had … thanks Heather!  ;)

Anyway.  Heather’s expecting her third bundle of trouble in April and waited patiently for her turn in front of my newbie lens!

Thank you Heather, for your patience, your friendship, your love … and for letting me photograph your beautiful family … you know where to find me when the new one arrives!

Figures that the day we were finally scheduled, was rainy and dark!  She texted me on my way out and wondered about having no light in the house.  I decided to continue out and see what we could get.  I definitely learned some things about lighting, and what I’d do differently next time.  I think we got some good shots and I love that I’m continuing to learn.

EJ was absolutely fascinated with mommy’s belly button!

And while Jack was at school, I took the opportunity to get some shots of little sweetie-pie … although, I hear she goes by ‘trouble-maker’ most of the time!

032009-stuart02Could this not be my child?!?

I took advantage {I *think* …} of the bad yellow lighting we had inside the house and turned this into a vintage looking photo … at least that’s what I was going for …

I finally wised up and turned out the lights and look how beautiful the lighting turned out?  I think this is Heather’s fav from the shoot.

I loved this series of shots.  The poor sonogram picture came through with a few creases and dents … but we finally got a great shot!

I also got some good experience working with different skin tones.  That, combined with the lighting … gave my post-processing skills a good workout!

I love these kids!  Thank you Heather for trusting me and my new set of skills … enjoy!  You can see more photos of this shoot here.
