ms & skinny jeans

So here’s the deal.  MS and skinny jeans don’t seem to go very well together … at least not for me.

My limbs fall alseep super easy these days and when I wear skinny jeans, my circulation seems to stop at lighting speed.

Fo’ realz.

Okay and then the other sucky thing that happened last night … and seriously this broke my heart … but I wanted to share.

Hunter’s been “helping” me with my injections lately by holding my watch and helping me keep track of the time {I have to mix the medicine for two minutes}.  So she’s standing by me as I do the injection.  I use an auto-injector … so when I’m done, I start taking the syringe out of the injector.

But … I somehow fumbled and it starts falling out.  It falls down by my feet, hits the floor and bounces … right into Hunter’s foot.

It didn’t even seem plausible that it would’ve gotten her and the farthest thing from my mind.  But she starts crying.  Loudly.

I take her slipper off and her toe is covered in blood.  The angle of the needle must’ve gone in really weird, because it was bleeding like crazy.

Imagine my torment over that situation.

I cleaned her up, held her, apologized.  Called my nurseline … they said I really need to call her pediatrician.

Bottom line … all’s okay.  Since it was my own needle {even though used}, and there was no medication that got into her … I was instructed to slather her with antibiotic cream and clean it up really well.

I did that … but slathered her with TLC all night long too.

UPDATE:  Hunter’s usually the first one of the girls up and hunts for the elf before she does anything else.  So she finds it this morning and informs me she’s still on the good list.  But that I’m on the naughty list.  “Oh really,” I say.  “For what?”

“For putting a shot in my toe,” she says.  Humpf!

I stumbled upon your blog after being directed to it by a Ali Haigh who had her baby’s pics taken by you. Since then, I read your blog every day. Although I don’t know you personally, I have to say, I enjoy reading your blogs so much! I especially enjoy your Hunter stories. I have two little ones at home, and I get such a kick out of hearing your stories! You’ve also really helped me put things into perspective when I’ve felt like things were tough for me… hearing your stories about your struggles with MS really help me to stay grounded and remember there are others with worse afflictions. Thank you.

Regarding skinny jeans . . . no worries, they’re probably a passing trend anyhow. Maybe “mom jeans” will be all the rage next season. LOL! I kid! I kid!!

And that freak needle accident! Holy moly! Glad Huntie’s okay . . . but Momma probably got the worst of it, I’m thinkin’. :-( Sorry that happened. (And hope you’re off the naughty list soon!)
