Have you read the book? I sadly admit that I haven’t. I own it. But I haven’t read it. I’ve gifted it no less than twenty times. But I haven’t read it.
You know that pile o’ books that we all have accumulating, but time ticks away and you can never seem to get through ’em all? Doesn’t help matters when you’re continually adding to that pile!
Yeah. {head hung in shame} “One Thousand Gifts” is laying in that pile.
I read many blogs that have taken Ann’s challenge to count down 1000 gifts … I admit, I’ve been tempted. But just as quickly, discouraged.
And then. An app. An app to help assemble my 1000 gifts!
Ann says this: “One Thousand Gifts: The Free App …. because Thanksgiving is more than a holiday – it’s a way to wake up to really, fully living.”
I love it! This is something I can sink my teeth into and partake in … and keep me going til I get to that ol’ pile of books!
And in other news … the number 1,000 has a special meaning to me this week … be sure to come back tomorrow and find out why. And might I suggest you bring a friend or two!

I have read the book (It’s beautiful!) and downloaded the app (It’s awesome!) but I haven’t started counting my gifts yet! What am I waiting for?!
Well I hadn’t heard of the book before I read your post this morning. But I did read the first chapter available in one of your links. I was sobbing this morning as I read through it. It is very humbling and thought provoking. I will definitely put this book on my must read list.
The book is sitting on my nightstand, but I haven’t opened it yet. Now I will!
At your suggestion I downloaded the book to my kindle and began reading it last night. Wow! I read the first two chapters last night and am in awe of our AWESOME GOD!!
I’m telling you again, read this book! I finally got to it in my pile and it has really opened my mind and heart to think about gratitude and thanksgiving in an entirely new way! I am not finished with it yet, but I can already feel blessed through the connections it has helped me make in scripture and to the Lord. I haven’t compiled my full list of 1000 gifts yet either, but I am learning it is all about how I choose to react to this world and the attitude with which I face the day and God’s abundant blessings in my life.
