the king’s christmas list :: giveaway

We are huge fans of this Christmas book!  I brought it out early this year and have already read it to both Wynter and Hunter’s classes at school.

The little tag on the book says, “teach your kids to love giving!”  This book does a great job of doing just that!

It’s written based off of the following Scripture:

“Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about?
When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink?
And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth:
Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked
or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’
Matthew 25:37-40 {MSG}

The story is of a little girl who gets an invitation to the King’s royal Christmas celebration {a birthday party! and get it? it’s birthday week for me.  sorry, had to throw that in there}.  Anyway.  She grabs a few of her favorite things to take on the journey, as well as the gift of a cake to give the King.  Along the way she encounters people in need and gives them all of her favorite things … including the cake.

At the end of the story, she meets the King and is suddenly sad she no longer has a present for Him.  He kindly explains that the people Emma met along the way were angels, “out looking for the true spirit of Christmas, and they found it in you!”  He continued, “You see, by sharing your favorite things with them, you showed My people how to give Me a Christmas gift.”

“Anyone who desires to give Me a gift, behold!
Give food to the hungry and clothes to the cold,
Give care to the poor, both young and old,
Whatever gift you’ve given to a person in need,
Is indeed a gift you have given to Me.”

Um, okay … never mind!  Looks like we had some technical difficulties!  Par for the evening I had … so I’m just going to laugh about it and let you laugh with me.  Wynt was such a good sport for doing it for me, I’m gonna just keep it up there!

She basically shares a bit of what I shared above and also talked about why she likes to give.  I really think God’s given her a heart for giving.  I’ll share more on that next week …

So anyway.  On to the giving!  We’re giving away 3 copies of The King’s Christmas List.  Did you know my favorite number is three?  Well … now you do! :)

Ready for the deets?

Three winners will receive one copy of The King’s Christmas List.

What a wonderful and timely message. The message revolves around the only judgement of Jesus. It is foreshadowed in God’s ‘fast’ as presented in Isaiah 58. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the recommendation! I haven’t seen this book. Like you, I’m trying to teach my girls the true meaning and spirit of Christmas. Yesterday we did our first “RACK” and called someone who lives far away and sang them a Christmas song. My 3 and 6 year old enjoyed it so much, they decided to call several more people and sing to them also!

What a wonderful message – I haven’t heard of this book but am constantly looking for ways to teach about giving. Giving feels soooo much better than receiving! Thanks so much for doing this – either way I’ll be purchasing a copy and if I happen to win, I’ll gladly be giving away the one I purchase.
