answer to prayer …

Does this photo make you smile as much as it does me?  I’ll tell you what … my Piper has had the hardest time … now’s not the time to go into it, but please know this little 9 year old has walked a path of faith with more resilience than a lot of adults would’ve.

And her perseverance has paid off.  Big.

My girl is smiling again!

I had two specific prayers for Piper:  1) that a friend would come up to her, literally take her by the hand and ask to be friends.  and 2) that God would hurry it up a bit!

This journey has had the most impact on Piper.  I encourage her consistently with the fact that God would not have brought us here {yes, my faith is such that I believe this entire thing is God-breathed}, if He didn’t have GREAT plans in store for us!

Well … guess what?  Piper’s new friend was that exact answer to prayer!  She was in a different class than Piper, but would see her on the playground throughout the week, when she literally went up to Piper, took her hand and asked to be friends.

The difficult part was that kids in different classes don’t have too much interaction throughout the day.  But guess what happened just one short week ago?  Piper was moved into her new friend’s class!  And dear friends guess what else?  I believe I have “my Piper” back!

I realize God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want, and sometimes it’s not in our timing … let’s be honest, most times it’s not in our timing!  But as I’ve tried to encourage you throughout this journey … if we can remain faithful, trusting in His plan along the way … the blessings given to us are far greater than anything we can imagine.

This is Piper’s scripture verse for this week {they need to memorize a verse each week at school} … we had a great discussion on the meaning behind it {everything I’ve talked about here the last few days}:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your
faith produces perseverance.
James 1:2-3 {NIV}

Parents … one last thing I’d like to share and encourage you with … Piper uses this Faith Journal to record her thoughts as they relate to her faith walk.  It’s perfect!  There are prompts on many different subjects {fear, bullying, praises … the list goes on} and it really allows kids to explore their thoughts.  Raising kids with faith in today’s world is a challenge … to say the least!  I need all the help I can get and this journal has been a blessing!  I’m not sure there’s anything more precious than seeing your children develop a faith of their own … when that little light bulb goes off and you have the privilege of witnessing it … makes the struggles all worth it!
