ava’s rule

This breaks my heart.  Brings me to tears actually.

Sheye Rosemeyer was one of the very first photographers I found on the web … when my whole photography bug hit.

While admiring her incredible photography, I quickly learned of the death of her daughter, Ava.

I subscribe to Sheye’s blog and just received this postcard.  I think you’ll all agree it’s worth sharing and spreading the word.

I think as parents, we can be careless to think “something like this couldn’t happen to us.”  I know I’m guilty of it.  My kids will never get into a parked car.  No need to tell them, that’s just something they know.

Wrong.

I intend to share with my kids this very weekend what Ava’s rules are.  And I hope you will too.

I found her blog eons ago and after reading her story I was bawling. It touched me so much I think I even did a post on my blog about it. Haven’t checked in on her blog for quite some time so it was nice to read her name on yours. What an important message to get out. Seriously breaks my heart every time I think about their loss and how it happens way more often than we realize.

    Hello Tracie –
I stumbled upon your blog through Broadway Papers’s blog. I have spent some time flipping through and looking at your gorgeous family along with your gorgeous words. I must say you put my Martha Stewart skills to shame. :) And then I stumbled upon Ava and it made me so happy to see that you are spreading her story. Sheye is a very dear friend of mine. I just got back from Australia visiting her so to see this makes my heart sing. Thank you! Sheye would be so happy too…
Many blessings to you and yours,
    Krysta xx
